Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Skiolet D’Or and the beginning of a new tradition of celebrating and honoring high level glisse alpinism. Each year, the finest ski and snowboard descents in the mountains, done in pure style and the spirit of traditional alpinism, will be presented with an award. Self-powered performance, endurance and exploration is long overdue to be heralded as a reference to the general public as a legacy for present and future generations of skiers and snowboarders . The Skiolet D’Or also stands to uphold the ethic in respecting nature and local culture through the imagination and innovation of the glisse artist. In addition to the yearly awards, a Lifetime Achievement award will also be presented (the Sylvain Saudan Lifetime achievement award).
